Tufts Medical Center COVID-19 Testing

An image of virus cells

********************

In an effort to expand testing capacity, Tufts Medical Center and Floating Hospital for Children (Tufts MC) has opened a COVID-19 screening site at the Josiah Quincy School, 885 Washington Street, Boston. Laboratory testing will take place at Tufts Medical Center. Testing will be available from 7 am – 7 pm Monday – Friday 7 am – 5 pm on Saturday/Sunday The Quincy School has previously been put into service as an emergency site for the City of Boston, and they agreed to support Tufts MC’s use of the school cafeteria as a screening clinic for those presenting symptoms of COVID-19 in consultation with the City and Boston Public Schools. This auxiliary clinic will provide a critical service necessary to help stop the spread of the virus and ensure the safety of our community. As the COVID-19 emergency evolves, the facility may need to be used for additional purposes. Nothing is more important than the safety and well-being of our patients, our health care workers, our neighbor organizations and all the people you serve. Strict safety protocols, rigorous infection prevention and control procedures, and the same thorough daily cleaning measures taken at the Medical Center, are also in place to ensure the safety of everyone in the community. These measures include: • installing protective surface coverings • setting up partitions within the cafeteria • frosting windows for privacy • installing an industrial level HEPA-filter negative pressure HVAC system in the school cafeteria. We believe these measures will ensure air in the surrounding area will be entirely safe. Following Tufts MC’s use of the Quincy School space, we will work with our school and City partners to ensure the area is fully sanitized and disinfected. We know these are difficult times for all of us, and we appreciate your support and partnership in our neighborhood, which we all care deeply about. This unprecedented challenge will only make our community stronger.
